An aviator and top racing driver pre and post World War 1. Raced for over 20 years, and highlights included pole at the Indianapolis 500 in 1914 and the 1922 Isle of Man TT. Raced for Sunbeam and is still remembered at Limoges as there's a street named in his memory. Later in his career he worked for Castrol France, competing in his last race in 1930, before retiring in 1939 to return to his hometown. Chassange started in the sport as a mechanic for Darracq, later becoming a riding mechanic for the marque, before starting racing on his own in 1910. During the war, he served as a fighter pilot in the French Air Force.
