A qualified mechanic, who later became manager of a garage in Paris, where he lived for many years. His 1929 appearance at the Indianapolis Speedway was not his only foray there, as he was a mechanic at the 1919 event. Moriceau spent most of his racing in his homeland, where initially he worked as a mechanic, then a riding mechanic, and then finally as a works driver for Talbot and Amilcar, which is how his 1929 appearance occured when the team entered the event. During World War 1, Jules served as an ambulance driver.
