Top Italian driver. Won the 1922 Italian GP and two American races. Killed in a practice accident, when a dog ran into his path and Bordino couldn't avoid it. The deceased animal got stuck in his steering and the car crashed into the River Tanaro by the circuit, Bordino drowning to his death, albeit he had suffered serious injuries already. But the manner of his death shouldn't be the reason to remember him - he was Vincenzo Lancia's riding mechanic originally before starting out of his own in 1908 in hillclimbing. He raced for Fiat, for whom his father worked as a mechanic, for many years and when they decided to have a go in America in 1922 and 1925, Pietro followed. He was one of the top drivers in 1920's Grand Prix racing, but only actually ever won once.
