Worked as a salesman for Packard Motors and also for the Haynes Automobile Company, who were based in Kokomo, Indiana. Percy also played a lot of golf in his spare time. Often raced in glasses due to his short-sightedness. Ford was a very adept board track racer and won his local event in 1917. Percy served in World War One in the US Army, and ended his racing career relatively shortly after the 1921 Indianapolis 500, where helped by Jules Ellingboe's strong stint, Ford came joint third.
