Real name Patrick Wilmer Monahan (sometimes spelt Monahon or Monaghan). Only had a brief spell in the sport both just before and after World War One. Wilmer entered his own JB Special with the support of his resident town, Uniontown, with the town putting money together to help Wilmer on his ultimately unsuccessful attempt to qualify. Monahan won a distinguished conduct medal for his bravery in World War 1. He was in the tank corps attached to troops from New York and was cited for bravery for saving many of them from a German attack. Before enlisting, he drove in two 1917 races, getting sixth place in the 112-mile race at Uniontown.
