An internal medicine specialist from Louisville, Kentucky, who moved to California, and finally, Texas during his later years. Sometimes called Doc as a racer. Shattuc was a medical graduate of Yale University who raced in his spare time for around five years, mostly on board tracks, racing his own Miller in the 1920's. Died suddenly of a heart-attack whilst enjoying retirement. His grandfather, William Bunn Shattuc, was an United States congressman. Shattuc's best result at Indianapolis was in his first year there, finishing an impressive ninth.
