Later worked for Gilmore Oil and was also track manager and racing director at Gilmore Stadium, as well as acting as a race promoter. Koetzla, who largely raced in stock cars, had a long racing career, as he was still competing in the mid 1930's, was a very influential person in racing, somewhat behind the scenes, as he worked closely with Fred Offenhauser to develop a racing engine for midget cars that had initially been set up by Leo Goossen. Koetzla also raced in endurance events, but also won many events in both Canada and America in the 1910's and 1920's, more often than not in dirt-track events.
