Mechanic who raced from the mid 1910's onwards. Later stayed linked with the sport locally, but his later trade was that of running his own farm in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. The Kirkpatrick family were quite wealthy, owning a large farm with a number of servants and employees when Charles was born. Kirkpatrick raced mainly on board ovals in his Frontenac during the mid 1910's, but drove a Mercedes for his 1919 Indianapolis effort. Charles' maternal great-grandparents were originally from Germany, emigrating to the United States in the early nineteenth century.
