Great Britain |
Indy 500s: | 3 (2011-2015) |
GP2 graduate who moved over to the Indycar Series in 2011, and who then competed for three seasons in the category. In 2014, however, he was without a drive but the wait was worth it as he moved back to the championship in 2015. In 2016, James made a move away from single-seaters and moved into the World Endurance Championship. He hasn't driven much lately, but is now back in Yorkshire and works as a test driver for Ginetta's sportscar team, which led to him taking part in endurance racing in 2022 in both sports and saloon cars. More recently, he is predominantly working as a racing driver instructor. Jakes started racing cars at a very young age, racing in the BRSCC T-Car series as a fourteen-year-old back in 2002. James followed the normal lower formulae rungs up the ladder before his move Stateside nine years later.
