Another graduate of karting, Ben has had a varied racing career, which even included returning to karting for some years from 2013. Hanley raced in a series of Formula Renault championships between 2005 and 2007, before moving up to GP2 Asia and the main GP2 series in 2008. However his single-seater career then stalled somewhat; he raced in European Formula 3000 and Superleague Formula but his career drifted until he joined Dragonspeed to compete in endurance racing. He raced in the European Le Mans Series and impressed them enough in both this and drives in the World Endurance Championship, that when Dragonspeed moved to Indycar, so did Ben, getting another single-seater chance in his mid-thirties. However he is largely back in sportscars, including IMSA, the World Endurance Championship and the European Le Mans Series. He took a class win at Le Mans in 2024.
