A five times Belgian motorcycle champion, Roger never really found great success in cars. He began racing just after the Second World War in club events before entering his own Talbot in more senior races. One of these races was a non-championship Formula 1 event at Helsinki in 1952, which Roger won. Roger then carried on, also racing in sportscars, until a broken leg in a race at Bari in 1955 led to Laurent retiring from driving one year later due to the injuries.
