An engineer, Ken raced on until the late 1960's and spent a lot of time travelling to America, but passed away at his home of near 90 years, Bourne, Lincolnshire after losing his fight against bladder cancer. Richardson was best known for being a long-time development and test driver for BRM and like Norman Dewis at Jaguar, that was fundamentally his main role, but he did travel with the team as a back-up for Grand Prix's and then later drove in sportscars and the odd endurance rally. His expertise as a welder as well as development driving was highly thought of by BRM.
