Belgian nobleman, son of Baron Raymond de Tornaco, who raced in the 1920's and who became the very first winner of a car race at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit - albeit an ancestor of the circuit later used in Grand Prix racing - in 1922. Died in practice for the Modena GP when he lost control. Charles started racing as a teenager in 1948 in a MG and then linked up with Jacques Swaters to form the Ecurie Belgique team, which then became Ecurie Francorchamps. Charles was also a regular sportscar driver.
