Highly rated driver, the 2015 GP2 Champion, who got his chance in Formula 1 in 2016 after an injury to Fernando Alonso. Vandoorne has a number of titles other than GP2 - a number of them were in karting, but he has also won the 2010 F4 Eurocup 1.6 title and the 2012 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship. Vandoorne also raced in the Super Formula series whilst waiting for a permanent Grand Prix drive, which came with McLaren in 2017. He remained there in 2018, but the year was a struggle and he moved to Formula E for 2019 in an attempt to restart his career. It worked as he became Formula E Champion in 2021-2022. He is still in the series in 2025. He is also in the World Endurance Championship, which he moved to full-time to in 2024.
