Head of Porsche's research and development division for some time, which included racing projects. Stayed with Porsche until he retired and kept links with them until his death. Bott was responsible for some of Porsche's greatest sporting achievements, but his greatest legacy is that of the Porsche 911. He joined the company in 1952, working as a production assistant but by 1972, had become the R & D chief. He went further up before retiring in 1988. During his spell, he was responsible - or involved in - the TAG Porsche engine for McLaren, the Can-Am and Group C projects and the very successful and iconic sportscars, including the Porsche 906, 907, 910 and the 917.
