One of the legendary engineers, who remained well until his peaceful death at the age of 95. Managing director of Ralt until he sold up in 1988, Ron remained closely involved with the sport, especially with Honda's motorsport efforts and historic festivals. Ron formed the Brabham team with Sir Jack Brabham, whom he raced against in the late 1940's and early 1950's. Ron ran the team until 1972. Tauranac has also worked on developing specialised racing school cars for Honda, Formula Renault cars and worked as an adviser to Arrows. Although he achieved great success with Brabham, the success of the Ralt cars in lower fomulae gave a chance to a number of racers to progress and that is arguably Ron's greatest legacy.
