Indycar driver who raced in the series full-time until the end of 2021. James enjoyed an excellent 2013 season which saw three wins, however a bad crash during Indianapolis 500 practice ruled him out for a while. Started single-seater racing in 2003, and moved onto Formula BMW and the Star Mazda series, before gaining some wider exposure in A1 Grand Prix for Canada, which increased his profile, with some excellent drives. James also raced in Champ Car Atlantic and Indy Lights before finally graduating to Indycar in 2011. He enjoyed a long career in Indycar, but in 2022, decided to focus more on commentating, which he does for NBC, as well as other drives and occasional Indycar one-offs. He is also a driver coach. In 2024, he was in the Michelin Endurance Cup part-time. He continues to commentate, including for F1TV, and has some sportscar drives in 2025.
