Road course and endurance racer in the early days of the sport, he had already stopped racing by World War 1. He was involved with the car industry as a director and CEO for most of his working life, and also invented a number of automobile related items, including the auxiliary seat-back for automobile decks, a self-locking spoke end attachment, a vehicle wheel, brake drum, wheel spoke shroud, a cooling system for internal combustion engines and also a scaffolding structure. Later became head of the Ainsworth Manufacturing Corporation. Also enjoyed yachting in his spare time.
