Of German stock, Jerry got his chance, initially as an interpreter for Sailer, Werner et al. Worked in the movie business and he was also a car salesman for Cadillac. Real name was Gerald. He later became a farmer in Illinois and also went into the cafe business. As a racer, Jerry competed for most of the 1920's, almost exclusively on board and dirt ovals; in fact, his Indianapolis appearances were about the only non-board races he competed in. His best result were two second places; once at Altoona in 1923, the other at Beverly Hills the following year.
