Moved up to F1 as Virgin's F1 driver - formerly in GP2 and Italian F3000. Stayed in F1 for a while as Lotus reserve driver and had a brief F1 return in 2012 with them to replace the banned Grosjean. After expressing a wish to go racing again, Jerome appeared in the Blancpain endurance series in 2014. D'Ambrosio was in the Formula E series for a long time, carrying on until 2020. He announced his racing retirement that year to become Venturi Racing's Formula E deputy team principal, a role he left at the end of 2022. Of Italian descent, he raced in Belgian, French and Italian Formula Renault and the Formula Renault 3.5 series before moving up to GP2. In 2023, he became the Mercedes F1 driver development director, but switched to Ferrari, along with Lewis Hamilton, in 2024, and became deputy team principal.
