Killed in a crash at the Atlanta Speedway, which also claimed the life of George Robson. The two cars touched and Barringer;s car was left in the middle of the track where it was then hit by the oncoming racers. Raced in the 1920's as a driver-owner, before making and breaking many speed records in the 1940's. Barringer grew up in San Antonio and then started big car racing in the late 1920's, but also entered others in his cars. He took two second place finishes in AAA events in his career; once at Springfield in 1935, and once at Milwaukee in 1939. The latter year saw his best finish at Indianapolis also, a strong sixth place.
