Also known as 'Bugs' Allen, Leslie was also based in California for a short while. A former motorcyclist, he worked on his own car and raced for over fifteen years. Allen fought in World War One. Trained, initially, as a mechanic, Allen later worked as a law enforcer, and was working in a bank at the time of his untimely death, aged just 54. As a racer, Allen was best at dirt-track racing and won races at Roby Speedway in the mid-1920's. He was the 1924 50-mile Midwest Champion and then took the 1925 100-mile Midwest Championship. One year after that, he was winning the 150-mile races.
