Full name Charles Glenn. Had only a brief career in the sport. He worked as an electrical engineer. Howard was based in Wyandotte, Michigan towards the end of his life, working at the D. Mellin Moran automobile parts firm, working both as a driver and as an engineer. Howard, whose maternal grandparents were from Ireland, worked as a car repair man in Indianapolis for some years before work dried up and meant a move to Michigan. Despite his long affinity with Indianapolis, he actually got married in Newport, Kentucky and also spent a while working as a mechanic in Memphis, Tennessee.
