Often credited as Barney Kloepfer or Kleopfer, Harvey's grave in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, actually has his racing name, rather than his real name. Harvey was an automobile mechanic, who later ran an auto repair garage along with his wife, Laura. His Indianapolis 500 effort came as a relief driver to Lou Moore, when he drove 106 laps from lap 98 onwards in the Miller car. However Barney had a long racing history, having started in the mid-1920's and built and raced his own sprint cars. In 1927, he took a major dirt track championship.
