Killed in a sprint car crash at Jackson County Fairgrounds. Mainly raced in dirt track events. Shaw worked for the Ideal Engineering Company in Indianapolis as an engineer. He died by hitting a water truck that was on the track, but in death, Shaw was a hero. If he had swerved either way, he would've crashed into the spectators or into a crowded pit area. Shaw eventually died of his injuries some weeks later, despite a blood transfusion from his wife. Before his death, Shaw had won the Midwest Racing Association Championship and he was due to receive the trophy later on the day he crashed. Shaw also won the first indoor midget race held in Chicago in 1934.
