Up and coming driver, a regular in USAC events, who died of his injuries in a specialist burns unit, after crashing his Lotus in a tyre test at Phoenix, just days after he had raced there in the final race of the season. Bobby was the son of George Marshman, who also raced and by the time Bobby was growing up was a track owner. Bobby worked at the track and then took up racing in 1955 in midget and sprint cars before progressing to Indycars a few years later. One of his most notable wins was winning at Phoenix in 1962, but arguably his best performance was a race he didn't win - until he developed a fault with his car at Indianapolis in the the '64 Indy 500, he was on course to win.
