Died from injuries sustained in a motorcycling traffic accident a week earlier. He had raced touring cars until the early 1990's. He intially started racing as a teenager in Mini's and Ford Capri's in South African endurance events. He then continued in endurance events, getting a big break when the World Sportscar Championship came to Kyalami in 1974 when he joined the works Chevron team. He did well in that and it led to opportunities in South African Formula 1 and the South African Grand Prix. Despite a long career, Guy only ever raced out of Africa on a handful of occasions.
