Neville later appeared in historics for some while. Ran a Volkswagen dealership in Bloemfontein. Died in 2019 after some years of rapidly failing health, becoming frail and wheelchair bound towards the end. Neville was the 1963 South African Formula 1 champion which followed a brilliant Formula 1 debut the previous year at his home track, where he qualified 10th and finished sixth. However towards the end of 1963, he suffered a massive crash at the Rand 9 Hours meeting and the injuries put him out of his home Grand Prix and much of 1964 as well. After failing to qualify for the 1965 South African Grand Prix, Neville retired to look after his business interests. Started racing after a visit to England in 1958 piqued his interest so much, he decided to start racing in Volkswagen cars soon thereafter. His career progressed well after a spell in British Formula Junior in 1961.
