Killed when his Hawker Sea Fury, a vintage single-piston engine plane, crashed when landing. Morgan started working for Cosworth in 1970 and stayed there until 1983, when he and Mario Illien formed Ilmor, initially to run in CART and then, later, in F1. The day after his death, David Coulthard won the Austrian Grand Prix in an Ilmor badged engine for McLaren. Morgan had a collection of vintage war planes, cars and motorbikes. Paul's grandfather worked on the design of Blackpool Tower. Morgan also enjoyed potholing and hang-gliding.
