Head of the Red Bull powertrains department as they begin to run their own engine supply from 2022 onwards. For twenty years, Ben worked at Mercedes in various roles. He started off as a design engineer before working his way up to Head of Mechanical engineering. A graduate from the YCL with a mechanical engineering master's degree, Ben, during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic worked on a continuous positive airway pressure device to work as an alternative to ventilators. For this work, he was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the New Year's Honours List in 2021 and it helped save thousands of lives. He has also worked in the past on rally engines and with the Ilmor engine builder business which led to his Mercedes linkup. Ben also runs his own motorsport engineering firm in Leicestershire. Father Kenneth was also an engineer.
