Part of the van Hool haulage and truck family, Mikke decide to stop driving, despite being competitive, to become the Astromega Formula 3000 team owner in 1995, a job role he continued for many years, despite money problems. The team latterly were in, amongst other things, the new Formula Acceleration Series, Fomula Renault and other single-seater series, but the team have now stopped racing. During their 20 year existence, they competed in Euro F3000 and the A1 GP series. Mikke is nowadays a lot more involved in the family business, who continue to construct coaches, buses and other forms of transportation.
