Killed in a horrible crash during a sprint car race at Dayton when the car's throttle got stuck and his car veered off the circuit going airborne over the banking. A commercial lobster fisherman, he was an excellent sprint car driver. Although Arkansas born, Rigsby was based in Lennox, California at the time of his death. He had, just a few months before, finished an impressive 12th place at the Indianapolis 500.
