Appeared in a few races in Indiana and nearby regions, but without much success. At the time of his death, he was a local councillor. He also worked as a farmer and was a member of the Indy Oldtimers Club until his death. In the 1934 Indianapolis 500, he relieved Herb Ardinger for forty-one laps. Danny, whose full name was Daniel Irving Day, was still a farmer at retirement in the early 1960's, having grown up on his parent's farm in Tipton. The family were farmers going back generations, with Day's father John and grandfather, Absalom both running the same farm. Day, who served in World War One, died of a stroke.
