Although a long-time Indy entrant, Frank was better known within the industry as an engineer. Son Gerald was also involved in car preparation and racing cars, but sadly Frank suffered tragedy when Gerald was killed in a car crash in 1950. Frank himself died peacefully at his home. He started off as a motorcycle racer in 1918, before switching to cars. His best result at Indianapolis was fourth, but he took two other top ten finishes. In 1936, he designed a new engine. It was a six-cylinder type with a double overhead camshaft. He later developed a series of improved engines based on his prototype and worked on superchargers. Frank retired after 1949's Indianapolis 500 to set up his garage. Brisko also ran a dairy in Madison, Wisconsin and his own parts manufacturing company in Ojibwa, Wisconsin, remaining involved in the latter until the early 1980's. Frank, who was of German descent, was best on dirt tracks as a racer.
