A former engineer with Michelin, Pierre moved to the BMW Sauber team in 2007 to become their performance engineer. When BMW rebranded back to Sauber, Pierre stepped up as the Head of Vehicle Performance before joining Red Bull in 2012. As well as performance engineering, Wache took over more technical roles, and when Adrian Newey left in 2024, Wache took over as technical director. Prior to working in motorsport, Waché earned a doctorate in fluid dynamics from the National Polytechnic Institute of Lorraine, specialising in bio-mechanical engineering
