Forever remembered as the first Japanese driver in NASCAR (he competed in the Camping Truck Series in 1995, albeit just the one race at Phoenix), Kenji is now a motor racing journalist and TV commentator in Japan. Momota raced in Japanese touring cars throughout the 1980's before moving to America in 1990, essentially to make the Indianapolis 500, with some appearances in the Indy Lights Series. These days, although Momota mainly concentrates on the automotive world, he also works in the energy industry, IT, and like fellow racer, Sakon Yamamoto, in the social care of elderly Japanese people. He also has interests in electric vehicle development.
