A legend in CART, he drove in the series before and after his unhappy F1 sojourn. Now runs his own Indycar team, which runs his son Marco. Michael also made a racing return for the 1st time in 3 years in the 2006 Indy 500. After the 2007 event, he retired from driving for good. Andretti also used to run an ALMS team, but is still in other series as a team boss, most recently and notably in Formula E. Despite multiple wins in the series, he only ever ended up with one championship title to his name, in 1991. Andretti also came close to Formula 1 in 1990 to replace the injured Alessandro Nannini but remained in the US until 3 years later.
