Friend of John Cooper, who helped him build specials. Indeed Brandon's first motorsport experience was as the passenger for Cooper in an MGTC in the Aldershot Speed Trials of 1946, and later that year was the co-driver, with Cooper, in the very first Cooper car. Eric also ran an electrical goods wholesale business, which helped him obtain parts, after initially following his father into the electrical engineering world. No mean driver either, he did well in F3 and won the very first 500cc event in Britain. Later constructed the Halsytec sportscar and also tried hydroplane racing.
