A retired car dealer, he died after an accident in Buckinghamshire after developing an infection which initially started after a fall down the stairs. Wilson had Parkinson's Disease that contributed to his fall and then the infection stemmed from there, killing him four months after the fall in 2000. Vic started his career in what was Rhodesia, racing a Jaguar XK120 in 1956, before racing a variety of machinery in many events in Rhodesia and South Africa in the 1950's. He started racing in the UK in club events in 1960. Despite his relative lack of racing, he deputised for the injured Dick Gibson in the Italian Grand Prix that year. He then had a mixed career, not racing for 5 years, before returning to race in hillclimbs, sportscars and Formula Libre Races. After an attempt to qualify for the Belgian GP ended in disappointment, Vic left the sport.
