9 (1928-1936)

Died of a heart-attack. A legendary car owner, he won Indy five times as team boss. Lou grew up in California and became a mechanic when he was sixteen and soon bought an old Ford Model T to begin racing. He very quickly proved himself as a more than capable driver, winning at Altoona and Syracuse in 1931 and then qualified on pole for the 1932 Indianapolis 500. But in 1937, he quit racing to become a car builder and owner. Floyd Roberts in 1938, Rose and Davis in 1941, Mauri Rose again in 1947 and 1948 and Bill Holland in 1949 brought victories home for Moore but he stopped soon after the last victory to enjoy his winnings and enjoy watching the sport. Sadly, he had little over five years to enjoy it, dying aged only 51.
