Originally an oil developer, Frank then bought a dealership. His driving career ended after he was badly injured in a road crash and then turned to horse racing - The Fox Stake harness race is named after him. He sold his businesses and then sadly suffered another accident, which he failed to recover from. Fox's reputation as a fast driver was such that the Los Angeles police used him as driver when they needed to get J. B. McNamara back from Indianapolis to California to stand trial accused of bombing the Los Angeles Times in 1910. Fox also herded hundreds of Hereford cattle but was also the first Vice President of the Indiana Trotting and Pacing Horse Association.
