Was the technical director of Honda F1 until 2008. Before F1, he was involved in their motorcycle division, and in 2008, he moved back to that part of the company, he was racing vice-president and head of the Research and Development motorcycle division at Honda until 2018. Nakamoto is now a special adviser to the British Talent Cup motorbike series, a consultant to Honda and a broadcaster. Nakamoto joined Honda in 1983, swiftly becoming project leader on the Honda RS125 and RS250 motorcycles. Shuhei joined the F1 side of the business in 2000, moving up to the race and test team manager role a few years later. He then became engineering director before taking up the entire technical directorship in 2006. Nakamoto, because of his need to be based in Europe for much of his career, was based there, living in Berkshire, England but is now back in Japan and only does consultancy work.
