Now a US citizen, living in San Juan Capistrano, Roberto raced in CART, the IRL and NASCAR for years. He also appeared in off-road events for some while. Now works as a driver coach, a TV broadcaster and a driver training facilitator. One of the drivers he has mentored is fellow Colombian and Indy 500 starter, Sebastian Saavedra. Guerrero enjoyed a long career, but was extremely fortunate to survive and fully recover from a serious head injury sustained in a crash in 1987, which left him in a coma for three weeks.
