Gabby hold joint American/Colombian citizenship - his father is an airline pilot for a Colombian airline but is based in the United States. Gabby moved up the normal ranks of racing progress through karts and Formula BMW, winning the American title in 2009. He then moved over to Europe to race in Italian Formula 3 and GP3, before returning to the US and Indy Lights. He won the title in 2014 to earn a move up to the IRL in 2015. Although Gabby did reasonably, he found himself on the sidelines for a bit before returnng with a part-time drive in the IRL in 2016 and then again in 2017. 2018 saw more of the same so in 2019, although far from retired, Gabby took up his time running his new business; an Indianapolis-based mobile oil change, fluid and filter diagnostics service. Gabby has also been working as a racing mechanic. From 2022 onwards, Gabby continues his business but also races in the IMSA series after a spell in the Michelin Pilot championship.
