Full name Edgar Eley. Also worked as a mechanic. Edgar's son, William Vincent Rawlings, later became a politician and a member of Virginia's State Senate. Rawlings was sometimes listed as Ken Rawlings. Rawlings tended to race mainly on board ovals, but also on dirt tracks, but initally got into the sport as a riding mechanic. Rawlings had planned to build, enter and drive his own car in the 1916 Indianapolis 500 in conjuction with Harry Jackson, another racer, but it never came to fruition.
