A very successful driver, but never made it to Indy's starting grid. A Mercer employee for years, he later worked on production and marketing of the Ruckstell axle. Pullen got into racing initially as a riding mechanic for borh Spencer Wishart and Hughie Hughes before taking up racing in his own right. He won the 1914 American Grand Prix at Santa Monica and also took a couple of wins at the Montamara Road Race at Tacoma. He retired from racing in 1921 to marry, initially working as a test driver for Ford. Pullen died of cancer in 1940.
