After F1, he worked in GT's for Peugeot, then as a technical consultant for sportscar teams, but briefly returned working for Brabham again, in their guise as a sportscar team under David Brabham's tutelage, as a technical advisor. Away from the sport, he also runs his own design and development company, Astauto. Rinland now also works for Dunlop, working on their Future Race Car Challenge as the developer and designer of all the entries for a hybrid, green, energy-efficient car. Rinland is based in Surrey, England and is now long involved in British sport and industry; he works as a lecturer at Oxford Brookes University and also is involved in a racing tools supplier business.
