Longtime Borgward employee who was an engineer developer and tuner. Also credited as Karl Brandt. A keen cyclist, he was still a fine car designer despite rarely driving automobiles and was instrumental in the development of the famous Borgward Isabella. After an apprenticeship at Hansa-Lloyd, Brandt first joined Borgward in 1929, before spells elsewhere including at BMW. He then joined Borgward again during World War 2 and stayed there until the company went bankrupt in the early 1960's. He then joined Hanomag until 1972, when aged 65, he retired.
