Now returned to Finland, where he no longer races, but he is an occasional visitor to motor shows and major racing events in his homeland. Was involved with the family shoe factory concern, which has a huge empire in Finland, but after a few disputes, now runs his own shoe and boot design company, as well as producing and selling them. Has had a few tough years recently, including a problem with drink. Tero took up racing relatively late compared to his colleagues, but progressed quickly after spells in the Camaro Cup and Formula Ford in his homeland. A move to the United States to compete in Super Vee launched the springboard for a eight year on-and-off spell at either the Indianapolis 500 or in other CART races, but Tero never really achieved many points finishes. In 2023, Tero announced about founding an academy which would help Finnish drivers to go to race in the United States, starting from the lower series there.
