After a long spell primarily in single-seaters, Gordon switched over to NASCAR in 2000, both to drive and run a team. After a difficult start, 2003 saw the breakthrough for Robby with three wins. He then raced in the annual Dakar event for many years, but more recently has been in US off-road racing, namely the Baja 500. Robby also races in trucks. Off-road racing is where Gordon started his career - his father was an off-road racer, and Robby followed in his footsteps. Robby also formed a Super Truck racing championship, in which he also competed, and won the inaugural title. He also runs a number of businesses.
